1997.  She has worked in many northern communities on the Western James Bay Coast, Queen Charlotte Islands, BC, and in the Yukon.  She completed her degree and advanced Nurse Practitioner training at Laurentian University. In 2006 she came to North Bay to work as a civilian Nurse Practitioner with CFB North Bay.  After working with the implementation board of directors for the NBNPLC, Shannon decided a job here was too exciting to pass up.

Terri MacDougall (Nurse Practitioner – Clinical Lead)

2012 marks Terri’s 20th year as a nurse. For fourteen of these years, Terri has practiced as a primary health care nurse practitioner. Terri was involved with the proposal development and implementation of the NBNPLC and was the inaugural chair of the board. In January 2012, Terri joined the clinical team, becoming the clinical lead in May 2012. Since her undergraduate years, Terri has had a passion for primary health care nursing. Terri values primary prevention, social determinants of health and names pediatrics as her first love. Her first job was at a community health centre in Toronto. After two years of practice, Terri followed her dream to live up north and became a public health nurse in Elliot Lake. In 1995, Terri was accepted into the first year of the re-introduced Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program at Laurentian University. As one of the first graduates of the program, Terri had to move around the province to gain employment as a nurse practitioner. Funding models for nurse practitioners were lacking at the time. She and her family re-located to Southern Ontario so Terri could gain valuable experience in primary health care. After 7 years, Terri was given the opportunity to move back up north. Terri has made the North Bay area her home for the past 7 years. Terri has two children, a son in Grade X and a daughter in grade VI.
